Obituary of Lorne Beazley
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lorne Beazley announce his peaceful passing on Friday January 3, 2025 at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre at the age of 93 years.
Lorne will be forever missed and remembered by his devoted wife Marion of 68 wonderful years of marriage; sons Jeffrey (Winnie) Beazley St. Anthony, Melvin Beazley Burin; nephew Gregory (Tracy) Beazley Red Harbour, niece Joy (Edward) Drake Burin; sisters-in-law Yvonne (Gary) Newport Creston, Gail (Calvin) Rogers Creston, Madge Stead ON, Frances Farewell Rock Harbour, brothers-in-law Keith Farewell ON, Calvin (Joan) Farewell ON also a circle of other family and friends.
Lorne was born on Oct 13, 1931 in Burin,NL. He was the eldest child of two. His first job was working at the fish plant in Burin. He moved to Ontario to work for a company installing garage doors for a few years. He met the love of his life Marion in 1954 and they were married on Oct 4,1956. He welcomed his first son Jeff in Dec 1958 and Melvin in Nov 1963. He was a fisherman and carpenter all his life. In 1974 he went to work at the shipyard in Marystown until his retirement in 1997. He loved to make pleasure boats and model boats and dories. His most memorable trip was in 1996 he was a part of the flotilla that left Ontario to sail to NL and around the island with his good friend John on his yacht. Lorne was a kind and gentle man who devoted many hours volunteering at the Zion united church.
Lorne’s family would like to thank the staff at the Marystown retirement centre for the care and support he received there in the last 7 years.
Predeceased by parents Albert and Meta (Foote) Beazley, brother Bruce Beazley, Harvey Farewell, Tom Farewell, parents-in-law Samuel and Vera Farewell, sisters-in-law Margaret Beazley, Lynn Farewell ,Mary Farewell, Joyce McCarthy, brother-in-law Steve Stead.
Visitation will take place from Serenity Funeral Home, Burin on Saturday January 4, 2025 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM, Sunday January 5, 2025 from 2-4PM.
Funeral service from Serenity Funeral Home, Burin on Monday January 6, 2025 at 2PM with interment following at Zion United Cemetery Collins Cove,
