Obituary of Hubert Donald Rose
It is with great sadness that the family of Hubert Donald Rose of Fortune announces his peaceful passing at his residence in Fortune surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at the age of 69 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Jean Rose (Hillier); his sons Neil (Sherry) & Rick; grandchildren Megan, Anna, Sarah & Mary; brothers Fred (Ruby),George (Eileen) and Victor (Dorothy); brothers-in-law Lloyd Hillier (Mary) and William Hillier (Marilyn); sisters-in-law Gladys Bonnell, Greta Bonnell, Shirley Lockyer (Raphael), Marjorie Rose (Steve) and Frances Hillier, nieces and nephews plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Freeman and Annie Rose (Cox), in-laws Stanley and Effie Hillier, brothers-in-law Roy Hillier, Freeman Hillier, Garfield and Walter Bonnell and & sister-in-law Alice Hillier (Austin).
The Rose family would like to sincerely thank those involved in Don's care during the past 15 months. Doctors Li, Oni, Rowlands, and Armstrong and Bonnie and her nursing colleagues at the Chemo unit in Burin. During the pass month the compassion and care from Dr. McManamon and our community nurse Tracy not only provided for a peaceful passing, but also much needed support for his family.
As per Don’s wishes cremation has taken place and will be resting at All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune. Don’s family will be accepting visitation on Friday, May 13th from 10AM-12PM, 2-6PM. A family service will take place on Friday at 7:30 pm in the All Saints Chapel.
Funeral service to take place on Saturday, May 14th at 2PM from All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune. Inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Fortune.
Don was married to Jean for 48 years and they had 2 sons and 4 grandchildren who he loved dearly. He loved fishing, boat building and would never turn down an opportunity to tear down an old house.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to All Saints Anglican Church Roof Fund.
