Uncle Arch
Today my heart is home... Every single memory that I have of Uncle Arch brings a smile to my face. When Deanna and I were young, we would watch as him and uncle Carl would play cards, and if we were lucky, they would even let us play.
I also loved game night with Uncle Arch, Aunt Pat, Christine, Caroline, and Deanna. We’d play Pictionary, trivia pursuit, and my favourite... Balderdash. There was a lot of laughter as uncle Arch poked holes in all of our stories that we made up for Balderdash, we didn’t stand a chance.
Uncle Arch didn’t have any sons, so us girls were in charge of getting his wood out of the country. As the older people walking in the country would see us girls on the four wheeler hauling wood, they’d all stare in disbelief... it was a different time.
As I got older, uncle Arch still found ways to make me feel that I was a special part of his family. He’d take me and my girls out on his boat, one of my most favourite memories ever... even when he had to bring me in early because I got sea sick... he kept telling me to look at the horizon... but he brought me in, even though I knew I was a pain, he didn’t complain. He just brought me back to the wharf so I could feel better.
One time when we were out on the water, we saw blue whales and he shouted back at us to come to the front to swipe our bank cards for our impromptu whale tour.
I will cherish all of these memories and I will smile, laugh, and cry every time I think of him. “I thought he Walked on Water”... (Song by Randy Travis)

Uncle Arch will surely be sadly missed by all family and friends that knew him
He was a wonderful, kind soul - never complained, always willing to help others AND most of all, always had a smile
Our deepest condolences to immediate family, Aunt Pat and cousins Christine, Caroline and Deanna - hugs to you all
I had the clearest, vivid dream the night you passed away - all your brothers and sisters that went to heaven before you were gathering to welcome you and to let you know that you didn't need to be scared, it was a good place and everything was going to be okay - like my mom said before she passed, "it's just another door to go through for the next chapter of life" RIP uncle Arch - I SIMPLY ADORED YOU!

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. I have fond memories of Mr Matthews and I cannot eat fish with thinking of him.
While dating Caroline I was afforded the opportunity to do some cod jiggjng with the family. I wanted to leave a lasting impression and to impress him with my acquired skills . We had a great day where we caught quite a few fish and I managed to fillet a few while also demonstrating my comfort aboard the boat.
The menu for supper that evening was fresh cod and I offered to cook supper using a recipe my grandmother has passed to me. Things in the kitchen were going great and once again I was going to make a lasting impression. I experienced some difficulty with the fish as some of the fillets refused to stay together and ended up in an unorganized mess in the pan. “Based upon my experience “ I assessed that the fish was too fresh. Arch laughed at me and stated that “ I needed to fry the fillet skin side down first, this coming from his many YEARS of experience as a cook onboard a dragged”
We laughed and I took away a valuable lesson, one which I use on a regular basis.
Not sure if i “impressed” but I know I left a lasting impression

Deanna, Todd, Abigail, Dylan & The Matthews Family, so sorry to hear the passing of your loved one. It's never easy losing a loved one, regardless of age, but we know he's not in any more pain, and now enjoying the beautiful place we read about called Heaven. I'm sure the happy times you've all had together will by far outweigh the past few weeks of sickness and pain. You are in our thoughts and prayers, take care, and God Bless.
Love, Uncle Berk & Aunt Daphne
