Obituary of Catherine Clements
It is with great sadness the family of Catherine Clements of Grand Bank announce her passing on November 1st, 2024 at Grand Bank Hospital at the age of 83 years.
Leaving to mourn with broken hearts sons Robert (Sharon) of Grand Bank and Jamie of St. John’s; grandson Gregory (Andrea) of Grand Bank who was her pride and joy; great grandchildren whom she loved dearly Catherine Clements, Brody Cox, Joseph Cox and Jonathan Cox all of Grand Bank; sisters Philomena Rideout of Terrenceville and Marie Cox (Gerald) of Terrenceville; brothers Tom Hickey (Gertie) Hr. Breton, Jim Hickey Terrenceville and Peter Hickey (Margie) of Clarenville; sisters-in-law Lucy Hickey of Terrenceville and Minnie Hickey of Terrenceville; brothers-in-law Fred Clements of Grand Bank and Cecil Clements (Marilyn) of St. John’s; many nieces, nephews, friends and especially her bingo buddies.
Catherine loved her family, her grandson and grandkids made her life so special. She was known as Big Nan to them and they all wanted to go to her house to visit Big Nan’s candy shop which was always kept well stock with all their favorites. Even the grandkids little friends visited the candy shop it was a special place for them all. Her love for wrestling was known by all her family, she also loved her bingo game, cooking and cleaning was her hobbies. She made the best bread and a wicked mustard salad. She was a quiet woman but loved her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of family and memories no words can explain. All we can say is “Mom we will miss you forever.”
Predeceased by husband George; parents Thomas and Francis Hickey; parents-in-law John and Margaret Clements; brothers Earl Hickey, Richard Hickey, Joseph Hickey and Michael Hickey; sister Francis King (Gerald); brother-in-law Andrew Rideout; brothers and sisters –in-law Charles and Phyllis Clements and Arthur and Barb Clements ; sisters-in-law Jean Clements and Dorothy Prosser and nephew Ricky Hickey.
Family will be accepting family and friends from 7-9PM, Saturday, November 2nd and Sunday from 2-5PM and 7-9PM.
Funeral Service will take place from Salvation Army Citadel, Monday, November 4th at 3PM with interment following at SA Cemetery, Grand Bank.
In Catherine’s memory donations may be made to Salvation Army, Cemetery Fund.
