Lorne Kenway...the man...the myth...the legend, with a heart of gold.
After a short battle with illness, the family of the late Lorne Kenway announces his passing on October 23, 2024 at the age of 89. Lorne passed peacefully away at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 53 years, June. His brother Chris (Karen), who was like a son; stepdaughter Lori; grandson TJ (Chantal) and great-grandson Logan. Siblings: Nellie (Herb); Melvin (Marie) and Joan. In-laws: Mabel; Clarissa (Ches) and John. Lorne also leaves behind a wide circle of nieces and nephews; a very close friend and berry-picking buddy, Wilson; his special care worker, Charlene (who was like a granddaughter to him); and his special pet budgie, Tweety.
Predeceased by his parents Leslie and Esther; parents-in-law Matilda and John; sisters Sandra and Flora; brothers-in-law Ed, Jim, Alfred, Clyde, Tom and Frank; sisters-in-law Winnie and Sue; niece Doreen and nephew Allan.
Lorne was a loving and devoted husband, who was a caregiver for his wife, June, until his own health failed. He had a passion for berry-picking and spent hours picking bakeapples, blueberries, partridge berries and cranberries. He loved to fish and spent a lot of time on the rivers and in his younger years, in the country hunting with his brothers and friends.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses at the BPHCC, and the Provincial Homecare workers for their exceptional care during Lorne’s illness. Also, to Sharon Fewer for her support in making Lorne comfortable at home and honoring his final wishes. To special relatives and friends who visited, brought food, called, sent messages, or supported us in anyway, your kindness will always be appreciated and remembered.
