Obituary of Ellen Gillingham
It is with great sadness the family of Ellen Gillingham of Marystown, announce her passing at Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on August 4th, 2024, at the age of 85 years.
She will be forever loved & missed by her children Sylvia Smith of Marystown, Cynthia Brake of Labrador City, Jacqueline Hartson (Pius) of AB, Wylie (Imelda) of NB, Lee (Lynda) of AB and John (Wanda) of AB; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Welcoming her with loving arms are those gone before her, husband Harvey, parents John & Emily Lundrigan, granddaughter Chantel Smith, and sons-in-law Gord Smith & Phil Brake.
Ellen & Harvey were married for just a few months short of 50 years, and raised a family of 6 children, who they loved dearly. Ellen loved being a grandmother to her grandchildren. She was an avid hockey fan and loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. She had a daily schedule for watching her favorite TV programs, which included The Young and Restless and Jeopardy. In her spare time she liked to do jigsaw puzzles, read, knit, and spoil the family pets.
Special thanks to her homecare worker Cathy Lane-Murphy, Dr. Moulton, Dr. NwanKwo, Community Health nurses, & nurses at the BPHCC for their kindness, & outstanding care for Ellen.
In keeping with Ellen’s wishes there will be a private funeral service with immediate family only.
