Obituary of Robert Spurrell
It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Robert Charles Spurrell (Sr) “India Bob”, age 71. Born in St. John’s, NL on 16 July 1950 and passed away at his St. John’s residence on 24 May 2022.
Self-proclaimed “Woodscracked”, an outdoor enthusiast, avid fisher and hunter, he loved Mother Nature and lived for his time spent with her. Bob was always able to draw a crowd to listen to his stories still, he preferred to be alone. He loved a good laugh but cried at every turn of the wind.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Jessie (nee Strugnell) Spurrell, St. John’s; sister Phyllis Luther (Ron), New Hampshire and nephew Lee Vanstone (Ontario).
Leaving to mourn daughter Sandra Mayo (Keith), Marystown; sons Robert (Trudy), Ontario and Andrew, Alberta; brother Gerald (Beverly), Nova Scotia; sisters Daphne Bradford (John), Maine, Barbara Foley (Dave), Ontario, Shirley Freeman, California, Joan Hotson (Kent), Ontario and Trudy Spurrell (Joan McGrath), St. John’s; grandchildren Kyrie, Stefan, Jessica, Joseph, Charlotte, Kaleb and Koyote; lifelong friends Geralyn Lynch (Ken), St. John’s and Ray Evans, St. John’s; a large circle of relatives and dear friends from “the Bell”.
Cremation has taken place with a private family service at a later date.
