To Aunt Marguerite and family we send out deepest condolences. We are thinking of you at this difficult time and wish that we could be with you. It was always so nice to see you both when you would visit at Cape Broyle. Bob was always a very kind and gentle man, always asking and wondering how everyone was doing, you could tell that he sincerely cared about others. I hope that the memories of the happy life that you had together and how much you both meant to each other gives you great comfort. Take care - hugs

Dear Family,
I would like to offer a short story that reflects the kind of person Uncle Bob was and why I will be forever proud to say he was my godfather:
Two weeks ago, I accompanied my dad and Aunt Joe to Burin. As we all know, Uncle Bob was very frail and weak at that point. It’s safe to say that he knew he was nearing the end. I can’t imagine how it must feel to have been so strong, proud and reliable as Uncle Bob was, only to have life take such a hard and unfair turn towards the end.
I walked in the room, greeted Uncle Bob, and started making small talk about the weather and the drive up. Then, he stopped me mid-sentence, and in a dry and whispery voice asked me, “How is AeBoon and the two boys?”
That a man in his weakened condition, with a family of his own would care to ask how my family was doing really touched me.
I look forward to telling my boys, Calvin and Kyle, about fishing in the pond behind Uncle Bob's house, how he would pluck my hair every time I visited as a young boy (he called it giving me a "duck pick"), and, most of all, I look forward to telling them that he cared about my family.
To Aunt Marguerite and her family, and to my own, we offer our sincerest condolences and will always remember Uncle Bob warmly.
Sincerely,
Darrell

On behalf of my family I want to extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Bob's family, particularly Mary, Josephine, Frances, Kevin, Tom and the Kennedy and Ryan families and extended family. At this difficult time, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we are only a phone call away if needed. May you take comfort in knowing others care and may this little verse bring you some comfort:
"When we are born, we cry and all around us laugh.
When we die, we laugh and all around us cry!"
Over time, you have created many happy memories, and it is those memories that will keep Bob's memory alive in your hearts. To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die. "May God bless and guide Bob in the palm of His hands to the other side where the lighthouse stands!"
