Obituary of Mercedes Yvonne Slaney

Due to weather conditions funeral will take place at 2PM on Friday instead of 10AM. Passed peacefully away February 7th, 2012 at the US Memorial Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer Mercedes Yvonne Slaney of St. Lawrence age 82 years. Leaving to mourn sons Randy (Ollie) of Mount Pearl, Dennis (Linzey) of St. Lawrence and Damien (Denise) of Brampton, ON; daughters Grace Slaney of St. Lawrence and Donna Tobin (Elroy) of St. Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters Georgina McCormick of Dartmouth, NS, Cresua Bowser (Mike) of Dartmouth, NS, Regina Lambert of Montreal and Marguerite Fitzgerald (Ed) of Bracebridge, ON; sister-in-law Beatrice Slaney of St. Lawrence ; special friends Adelaie and Baxter George of St. John's; many nieces and nephews plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by husband John Slaney (Trainor); parents Donnette and Gladys Slaney; brothers Bud and Gordon Slaney; sisters Mae Nicholas and Marie Turpin; daughter-in-law Geraldine Slaney; brother-in-law Ronald McCormick, Phee Turpin, Yves Nicholas and Bertrand Lambert. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to "Save Our Parish Fund" , St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Resting at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Church, St. Lawrence Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral to take place from St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Church, St. Lawrence with interment following at Mount Cecilia RC Cemetery Friday, February 10th at 2PM.
