Please share a memory of Calvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Calvin John Pike of Harbour Mille at Health Science Centre, St. John’s on April 5, 2024 at the age of 78 years.

Leaving to mourn with loving and precious memories wife Betty of 58 years; children Rodney (Kim), Darlene (Sean), Shawn (Velma), Bradley (Vanessa); 6 grandchildren  Chelsea, Brady, Mackayla, Tyler, Megan & Ryan; first precious great-granddaughter Charlotte; siblings Freeman (Cathy) Dartmouth, NS, Leander Harbour Mille, Dinah (Walter) Grand Bank, Myra (Reginald) Labrador City, Jessie (Fred) Harbour Mille plus a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Predeceased by parents Clarence and Charlotte Pike, parents-in-law William and Loretta Perham; sister Rita Forsey, brother-in-law Carl Forsey, sister-in-law Joan Pike.

From the moment Calvin became a husband and a father, he focused all his love and energy on his family, and he put them first, always. He was an incredible role model and shoulder to lean on. He loved with his whole heart and there was certainly no lack of love when it came to his family, especially for Betty, his one true love, and his precious dog, Fido.

Calvin had a great love for the sea, fishing, and made wonderful memories with family and friends experiencing it alongside him. When he began his career, Calvin celebrated his sixteenth birthday at sea; this remarkable career spanned 46 years and he ended it aboard the Cape Ballard. He left a notable mark on his colleagues and friends.

The family would like to send sincere thanks to the 4NB staff at the Health Science Centre for the care that they provided to Calvin during his time in St. Johns.

A special thank you to daughter-in-law, Velma, who advocated for Calvin until the very end.

In keeping with Calvin’s wishes cremation has taken place.

A private family service will be held at Serenity Chapel to be confirmed at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Cancer Society

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.

“ We listen, we learn, we walk with you.”

A husband, father & grandfather is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.
