Leviwas born on October 7, 1943, and was raised in Jersey Room, Bull’s Cove, Newfoundland. In 1966, at the age of 19 years old, he went to work with Fishery Products International (FPI) in Burin. Luck struck in 1964 when he met the love of his life, Shela Mayo, whom he married on February 18, 1966Following the marriage that year the couple welcomed their first born, their beautiful and only daugther, Christine. Shortly following her birth they moved to Labrador City where Levi took a job at the Iron Ore Company (IOC). While in Labrador the small family began to grow as they welcomed the addition of three strapping sons, first Albert, then Ivan, and lastly, Donnie. In the summer of 1978 the young and busy family decided to return home to Burin, where Levi took a job as a Welder back at his old stomping grounds, FPI. After 10 years of welding, Levi decided to take an early retirement and began driving a school bus, which he then did for 14 years. With their 4 children grown up and having families of their own, he retired again in 2011 so that he and Shela could move to Ontario to help take care of their 3 youngest grandchildren; this was until 2019, when the couple moved back to their beautiful home of Newfoundland.

Throughout Levi's joyous life, he gave his heart and soul to not only his family, but also his community. He established the local Sea Cadet Corps, RCSCC 280 Zaandam, and worked with the program for 25 years. Back in 1985, he began working with the Royal Canadian Legion, and served a total of 14 years as president at Branch 29 in Burin, and Branch 532 in New Hamburg, Ontario. Throughout the years he also served on the Poppy Trust and was a part of the Legion's executive committee.

Levi was a man who was loved and respected by all of those who had the honor of meeting him. He was someone who would do anything he could, for anyone who asked. His big heart and even bigger smile will be dearly missed.

"It isn't what we leave behind, it's what we leave in people's hearts that counts."
