Obituary of Effie Blundon
BLUNDON, Effie (née Hutchings)
1938– 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Effie Blundon announce her peaceful passing at the Clarenville Retirement Centre on August 1, 2026, at the age of 87.
Effie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and love touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a rich legacy of family unity, faith, and fond memories that will be cherished forever.
She leaves to mourn with loving memories her children: Owen (Marlene), Rex (Lorraine), Bert (Rose), Sherrie (Sam), and Twyla (Russ); her stepdaughter Gladys (Dana); and her sister-in-law Lillian Hutchings. She is also lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.
Effie is reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Chesley; her parents, Evangeline and Bertram Hutchings; her granddaughter Rebecca, brother, Wallace Hutchings; sisters, Nora and Beulah and her husband Samuel Ivany, brothers-in-law, Ernest and Gilbert (and his wife, Fern); sister-in-law, Mildred, and her husband, Josh.
The family will welcome visitors to celebrate Effie’s life at the Pentecostal Church in George's Brook on Tuesday 7:00 PM – 9:00PM and Wednesday from 2:00 PM – 4:00PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Pentecostal Church, George's Brook. Interment will follow at the Old United Cemetery, Shoal Harbour.
