Please share a memory of John B. Jr. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John B Kearley (Junior)
May 13, 1954 ~ June 18, 2026

It is with profound sorrow that the family of John B. Kearley (Junior) announce his passing after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Junior will be lovingly remembered for his mischievous grin, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humour that brought laughter and joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warmth and kindness gained him numerous friends wherever he went. He had a natural gift for connecting with people from all walks of life and instantly putting them at ease.

He was a hard working man throughout his life. Junior worked with his brother in law in construction for a couple of years. Building his own home in the late 1970’s. For the majority of his adult life he worked as a lobster fisherman and in later years transitioned to work on the Salmon farm until retiring in 2021.

Junior had a great love for music and was one of 4 members of The Rencontre Boys with whom he released a cassette in 1990.  He sang, played guitar and even wrote a couple of songs. This brought great enjoyment to family gatherings and celebrations. His passion for music was a reflection of his joyful spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Junior was an avid sports fan who cheered enthusiastically for both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Win or lose, he was their loyal and devoted fan.

He enjoyed a good time, cherished the company of friends, and never missed an opportunity to share a story, a laugh, or a song. Yet above all else, he adored his family.

Junior was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret (Marg) of 46 years, his daughter Jacquline (Jackie) Kearley Mackey, his Father, John B Kearley (Sr), his mother, Hilda Kearley (Mullins) and sister Brenda Snow.

He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories his son, Trevor Kearley, grandsons, Josh Kearley, Ryder John Kearley and granddaughter, Johanna Mackey. His brother, Ralph Kearley and sisters, Nina Freeborn (Ward), Dianne Sutcliffe (Larry), Cathy Sheppard (Jim), Freda Kearley, Josie Augot (Ernie), Sherry Sheppard (Dave), his lifelong friend, Tom Caines, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him immensely.

Junior’s family would like to acknowledge the kindness of the staff at The Marystown Hotel, Marystown Taxi and The Burin Peninsula Hospital. Your compassion for Junior during his many trips for chemotherapy treatments and follow up appointments was greatly appreciated by Junior and his family. He spoke highly of you all. He valued the many friendships he developed from there that helped to at least temporarily distract from his cancer battle.

Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find comfort in the many memories he leaves behind-the music, the laughter, the stories, and the love. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
