Obituary of Frederick (Fred) Fizzard

It is with profound sadness that the family of Frederick (Fred) Fizzard loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother announces his peaceful passing at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Sunday March 8 2026 at the age of 64 years.

Fred grew up to be a man known for his incredible love for his family and his patient, gentle nature. He was the devoted husband and best friend of Donna, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family gatherings.

He was a proud and dedicated father to his boys who will remember him as a mentor and their biggest supporter. Nothing brought a brighter smile to his face than his beloved grandchildren, whom he adored spending time with, sharing stories, and teaching life lessons. 

An avid outdoorsman, Fred found peace and joy in fishing and hunting, spending many hours on the water—a passion he often shared with friends and family. Whether he was catching the big one or just enjoying the serenity of nature, he was always at home by the water.

A true sports fan, Fred was a diehard Toronto Maple Leafs fan, rarely missing a game and cheering with loyalty through the highs and lows of every season.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna, sons Leon(Janine), Chad(Tanya), Brent (Tiffany); grandchildren Devin, Riley, Tiana, Felicity, Carissa, Taylor, Seth Brody, Blake; siblings  Sarah, Albert (Madonna), Bernice, Kevin (Doreen), Derrick, Merrick, Georgina (Thomas), Sabrina and his dear friends Danny & Paulette Burke and many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. 

He was predeceased by his parents Alfreda and Joseph, sister Myrtle, brother Perry, grandson Bryan, parents-in-law Donald and Pearl Collins, brother-in-law Christopher Noseworthy.

Family will be receiving friends at Serenity Funeral Home, 95 Main Street Burin from Monday 4-9PM and Tuesday 2-9PM. 

A celebration of Freds life will be held on Wednesday March 11 2026 11AM at Serenity Funeral Home 95 Main Street Burin with interment following at the Anglican cemetery Grand Le. Pierre.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the family.
