Obituary of Pauline Ellen Coombs
Our family is heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, daughter, mom, nan, and sister, Pauline Coombs of Grand Bank. Pauline left us too soon at the age of 61 on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre.
A woman with a true heart of gold, Pauline’s life was defined by her selfless nature. She simply wouldn’t see anyone struggling and was always the first to offer help or a kind word. This spirit of compassion shone through her 20-year career as a home caregiver, where she provided comfort and dignity to many in her community. At home, she found peace in the quiet rhythm of her knitting needles and the challenge of a crossword puzzle.
Above all, Pauline was the cornerstone of her family. She was a devoted wife of 34 years to Calvin and a loving mother and Nan who dedicated her life to the family she so dearly nurtured.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin; her father, William Savoury(step mother Elizabeth), her children, Calvin Jr.(Sidney), Dylan (Asher), and Chelsey (David); and her seven cherished grandchildren: Jamie, Thomas, Peyton, Charlie, Lily, Jake, and Layla. Her legacy of love will continue through her sisters, Annette (Don) and Charmaine (Billy), Roseanne(Tom), her brothers, Henry (Jackie) and Darren; mother-in-law Harriett Coombs; and sisters-in-law Corella and Geraldine (Joe Buffett), brother-in-law Fred Coombs Jr., Joe Keeping. She also leaves behind her dear friends, Clarence and Kate, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Pauline is predeceased by her mother Mary Frances Savoury, sister Michelle, brother Charlie, nephew Bradley Coombs, father-in-law Fred Coombs, sisters-in-law Nellie and Regina, brothers-in-law Lloyd Rideout and Thomas Coombs.
