Etta’s journey of love began at a young age when she met her husband Glen while working at the fish plant in Burin. They married shortly after and built a life centered on their seven children. Etta was a woman of incredible strength; she personally cared for three of her children with disabilities until she was physically unable to do so. Though it broke her heart when they eventually moved into a care home, her fierce protection and love for them remained the guiding force of her life.
The kitchen was the center of Etta’s world. It was always filled with the warm scent of fresh homemade bread and served as the place where she sat with her children, patiently helping them with their homework. Her hands were never idle; she was constantly knitting socks and mittens to ensure her family stayed warm. A shy and laid-back woman, Etta was a proud defender of her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs foremost.
The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of Etta’s life. She was happiest in her rocking chair, gently swaying with a little one in her arms. Beyond her own walls, she was known for her quiet kindness, always lending a helping hand to anyone in the community who needed it.
The family will be being receiving friends on Wednesday February 11, 2026 from 2-7PM.
