Obituary of Donald Waterman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Glendale Waterman, originally from Fogo Island, who passed away peacefully at his home in Burin on February 6, 2026, at the age of 66.

Don left Newfoundland to serve in the Army, which led him to Germany, where he married and was blessed with the greatest joys of his life, his children, Mark and Samantha. Don returned home to Newfoundland 2017, where he remained.

Don was predeceased by his brother, Gary; father, Harvey; and common-law spouse, Eva Nippard.

Leaving to mourn are his son, Mark of Germany; daughter, Samantha (Mike) of Germany, mother, Grace of Burin; brothers, Clyde of Burin, Tony (Kathy) of Nova Scotia, and Kevin (Kim) of Noca Scotia; aunts and uncles; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his three beloved kitties, Bella, Cassie, and Fonzie and other family and friends.

Don was a steady presence in his mother’s life, always there with help, love, and quiet strength. She will miss him more than words can express.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Don’s home care workers for their compassion and support during the short time they cared for him.

Cremation has taken place.
 

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday February 25 2026  11AM at Serenity Chapel 95 Main Street Burin with inurnment following at the Anglican Cemetery Hodders Point.  

His memory will always be cherished.
