 Frank George Cake
July 4, 1940 – February 3, 2026

Frank Cake, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his partner Joan King and his loving children Lorraine and David.

Born on July 4th, Frank’s own life was a long celebration of family, hard work, and simple joys. He met and married the love of his life, Margaret (Ford), building a family that was his greatest pride. Leaving to mourn his sister Violet (Ontario).  Frank is predeceased by Margaret, and by his brothers Gordon, Leslie and David; and his sisters Mimi, Millie and Dorothy.

In 1960, seeking a new opportunity, Frank moved  to Toronto, where he dedicated over 30 years of loyal service at Duro Test. Upon retirement, he embraced the freedom to enjoy his passions. A loyal sports fan, he cheered faithfully (and sometimes loudly) for his Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He loved escaping Canadian winters for the sun of Florida and South Carolina, and his competitive spirit shone at the card table, where games of crib, Skip-Bo, Sequence, Rook, and 120s were a staple. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water, salmon fishing with his son and later, teaching his grandchildren to cast a line.

Frank had a generous heart, volunteering for many years with the local Breakfast Program at the school. He also had a well-known fondness for the Colonel’s secret recipe—Kentucky Fried Chicken was always a treat.

He leaves behind a legacy of love in his children, Lorraine and David (Sandy); his grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Cameron, PJ, and Rodney, Michelle and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Autumn and Berkley. He will also be deeply missed by his devoted partner Joan King, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Frank has now been reunited with his beloved wife Margaret and his cherished dogs, Honey and Spanky.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026 at 11AM to celebrate Frank’s remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to The Jamieson Acedemy breakfast program in Burin, Newfoundland or Heart and Stroke as  tribute to his spirit of giving.

Though the final hand has been dealt, the memory of his laughter, his stories, and his steadfast love will forever be a winning card in our hearts. Rest well, Frank.
