Obituary of Barbara Marion Pope

Passed peacefully away at Burin Peninsula Health care centre, on Saturday, December 13h, 2025, Barbara Pope at the age of 86 years, surrounded by her loving family.

Leaving to mourn are her children; Leroy, Gail, Carl, and David; her grandchildren Barbara Jean, Shana, Matthew, Marc, Nathan, Tylor, Andrew, Rodney, Will, Carter, brothers Lewis and Alvin, and her sisters Ivy and Glenda, as well as a circle of great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and friends

Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Mabel Banfield, her husband Roy in 2014, Son Rod and daughter-in-law Freda, grandson Tyson, and sisters Lorna and Verna. Barbaras's love for her family was the central theme, a constant and unwavering presence that shaped generations.

Her greatest pride and joy were her children, and she absolutely cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless light and laughter into her life.

She loved to cook and bake, and her food was how she cared for people. Whether it was a holiday feast, a favorite dessert, or a meal shared during hard times, she nourished both body and soul. You would never leave moms with an empty stomach.

Donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to St. Hilda’s Church, Bay L’argent.

We would like to extend our gratitude to her home care workers, Christina and Megan, the staff at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Emergency room, and Medicine for their compassion and care for mom.

We will miss her dearly and hold our memories close.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place. The service will take place at a later time.
