Obituary of Cora Jane Senior

It is with deep sadness that the family of Cora Jane Senior announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She died at the age of 86 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. 
Beyond her family, Cora was a friend to many. She embraced her roles as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister with grace and love.

Cora is survived by her children, she was a proud and loving mother to RIck Senior(Elaine), Spencer Senior (Karen), Stewart Senior, Cindy, Butler (Merril) all of Red Harbour ; her precious grandchildren Keith (Danielle), Bradley(Janelle), Tyler (Caitlin), Duane, Kathy (Ben), Cameron, great-grandchildren Riley, Kai, Finley, Lauren, siblings Samuel Butler (Daphne), Sheila Butler (Herbert), sister-in-law, Mabel Butler, plus a large circle of many nieces and nephews and friends.

Cora was pre-deceased by parents Hubert and Melvina Butler, husband Jack Senior, parents-in-law Hannah,  and George Senior, brother Ben Butler, Dolph Butler(Helen),  sister Maud (John Senior), Irene (Carl Miller), brother -in-law Bob Senior (Neala) plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Cora Jane Butler was born on October 6, 1939 at Port Elizabeth to Hubert and Melvina Butler. She had six siblings, three brothers and three sisters. On a February day, she married the love of her life, Jack Senior and they had four children, Rick, Spencer, Stewart, and Cindy. In 1968 they moved to Fortune where they had a restaurant for several years. They left Fortune and moved to Red Harbour in 1974. 
She begin working up to PJ Billington’s years later as a cook where she stayed until she retired. Cora enjoyed playing darts and she played until she was 83 years old. 
She was an unselfish person who always put others before herself. She was loved by all that knew her and her family was her pride and joy. 
Whenever anyone asked her how she was, and she would always say, “If everyone was good as me, they would be all right.”
She will be missed by all that loved her.

In keeping with Cora’s  wishes cremation will follow funeral service.

Donations in Cora’s memory may be made to United Cemetery fund Red Harbour.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 7-9 PM and on Friday December 12, 2025 from 1-9 PM

Funeral service will take place from Serenity Chapel 95 Main St. Burin on Saturday December 13, 2025 at 2PM.
