Obituary of Captain Henry Joseph Brown
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family Captain Henry Joseph Brown (Harry) age 95 years.
Harry is survived by his devoted and cherished wife of 72 years Olive who stood faithfully by his side through a life filled with family, love, and laughter. He was a proud and loving father to John Brown, Daphne Murphy (John), Earl Brown, Marlene Miller (John), Kevin Brown (Joan), Juanita Brown-Barrett (Derrick), his precious grandchildren, Kevin Murphy (Mandy), Larry Murphy (Trina), Cassandra Miller, John Miller, Patrick Miller, Philip Brown, his great grandchildren Robin, Riley, Murphy, Nicholas Kowerchuk, Madison Keping, Mackenzie Keeping; brother-in-law, Earl Lockyer (Grace), Joseph Lockyer (Goldie), sister-in-law, Janet Clarke(Lloyd), plus a large circle of many nieces and nephews and friends.
Harry was pre-deceased by parents Elsie and Henry (Joey) Brown, parents-in-law Earl and Caroline Lockyer, brother John Brown (Flo), sister Evelyn Brenton (Morris), Mary Reeves (Jim), Barbara McNeil, grandchildren Sarah Brown, Nadine Parsons Aaron Brown, daughter-in-law Millie sisters-in-law Almyra Haggard, Ann Hillier (Sam), Annie Lockyer.
Our family would like to offer a special thank you to the compassionate team who cared for Harry. We are profoundly grateful to Dr. Coleman and the staff at the Marystown Retirement Centre for their tireless work and for truly going above and beyond.
A heartfelt thanks is also extended to the doctors and nurses at the Burin Peninsula Healthcare Centre, as well as to Ches Shave, his former home care worker, and Janet Hilliard, a special friend who brought him joy.
In keeping with Harry’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A loving husband, cherished father,, adored grandfather, and proud great grandfather and respected father-in-law. Family was the heart of Harry’s world. He was always there — anytime, anywhere, for any reason.
“He taught us to believe in ourselves, to work hard, and to always try our best.”
Harry’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His guidance, optimism, and steadfast support shaped the lives of his family, friends, and countless others. Though he is no longer with us in body, his lessons, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at a later date
