It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Nan, Vera Pearl Hollett. Vera passed peacefully away on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the age of 85 in the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. Up until the end, Vera maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty and love of family and friends.
Vera was predeceased by her husband Calvin Hollett and is survived by her children Geoffrey (Maude) Hollett of Lewin's Cove, Della Hollett of Lewin's Cove, Bradley (Pamela) Hollett of Outer Cove; grandchildren Lauren Hollett & Alexander Hollett; brothers-in-law Junior (Marilyn), Nelson (Gloria), Guy (Julie); sisters-in-law, Linda (Ed Drake), Edna Inkpen, Violetta Brenton plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Predeceased by parents, Samuel and Matilda Butler, siblings, Harold Butler, Walter Butler, William Butler, Eric Butler, Dorothy Butler, Violet (Butler) Payne, Elsie (Butler) Burry, Mable (Butler) Morgan.
Vera was the heart of her family - the glue that held everyone together. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, kept connections strong and brought joy to all who knew her. She had immense pride for her children and grandchildren and cherished heartfelt conversations and visits with them. Vera always left others feeling special and at ease and relationships with her family brought her great joy.
The family would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the many people who have shown love and compassion in caring for Vera. In particular, the health care staff at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Dr. Surendra Acharya, her home care worker Lexi Darby and Reverend Jason Boyd. You all played an immeasurable role in supporting mom during her final days.
Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 95 Main Street, Burin.
A celebration of life will be held for Vera on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11 AM at Hope United Church, Lewin's Cove with interment following at Hope United Cemetery Lewin's Cove.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, Burin.
