Obituary of Ella Pike

Please share a memory of Ella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Ella Pike, at the age of 85, on Friday, September 19th, at the St. Lawrence U.S. Memorial Hospital.

Ella leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 67 years, Eli Pike; her cherished children, Jim (Marg) Pike and Loretta (Auby) Slaney; her treasured grandchildren, Garrett Slaney, Gina Slaney (Dave) and treasured  great grandchildren Oliver, Shelby, Clara, and Ruby.

Also left to mourn are her loving brothers, Ray (Mary) Beck of St. John’s and Cecil Beck of St. Lawrence, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents, Augustus and Maude Beck; her brothers, Jack Beck, William Beck, Albert Beck, Chesley Beck, and Ambrose Beck; and her sisters Jessie Beck Hoben and Sarah Beck Hewitt and her beloved grandson Bradon Pike.

Born and raised in St. Lawrence, Ella also spent much of her time in Burin Bay Arm, where she formed many lifelong friendships and memories.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She played a very active role in her church community and found joy in teaching Sunday school, guiding and inspiring many young children over the years with her kindness, patience, and devotion.

Ella was a woman of warmth, generosity, and strength. She devoted her life to her family, always putting their needs above her own, and her home was a place of love and welcome for all. Her long and loving marriage to Eli was a true partnership, built on devotion and respect, and together they created a lifetime of cherished memories.

To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was a source of endless love, comfort, and encouragement. Her presence will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Burin Hospital and the St. Lawrence U.S. Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

Visitation and funeral service will take place at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in St. Lawrence.
