William (Joe) Cox passed away on Thursday September 18, 2025, at the age of 71 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center. He’s leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

 

Joe will be deeply missed by his siblings Glady’s Barnes, Fortune, Felix ( Donna) Cox Fortune, Pius Cox, Fortune, Mary Cox, Edmonton AB, Hilda Cox, Fortune, Wayne (Vera) Cox, Terrenceville, Morgan (Michelle) Cox, Fortune, Eddie (Roxanne) Cox Parkers Cove; special nephews & nieces Lisa (Paul), Sherry (Greg), Michelle (Robert), Susan, Steven(Sueann), Michael(Dominique), Matthew, Wayne Junior, Zachary, Martika(David), Jordan(Brittnee), Brianna (Taylor), Brandon(Chloe); his special great niece Briella plus a large circle of other family and friends.

 

Joe was an extraordinary man who can never be captured in a few paragraphs. He was the quiet, steadfast person that everyone around him relied on, and who never let anyone down. He seemed to have boundless knowledge about everything and so many talents. He loved a good conversation the kind that are meaningful and go on for hours. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was tremendously proud of his nephew’s and nieces, whom he loved more than anything. He had an infectious laugh and an enormous smile that we can never forget. Joe was not only a beloved family man but also a role model and an inspiration to everyone he encountered. A strong, resilient man but also a deep thinker with a big warm heart and a beautiful soul. Christmas was his favorite time of the year, He loved to socialize and to eat and have is little drink on Friday evening everyone was welcome!

 

If you knew Joe , you loved him. Our house is so quiet now that he is gone. He filled our lives with love and laugher and is forever #1 in our hearts.

 

He is now reunited with his dear mother Philomena, father William Joseph Sr., brother Anselm, brother in law Lloyd Barnes who passed before him.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday September 19, 2025 from 1-9PM from Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.

 

In keeping with Joe’s wishes cremation will follow after the visitation.

 

Inurnment will take place on Tuesday September 23, 2025 1PM at St. Joseph's RC cemetery Terrenceville.

 

Donations can be made to  St. Joseph's RC Church Terrenceville in Joe’s memory.   

 

A special thank you and mention goes to his two caregivers Denise Stacey & Verna Mcgarth. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, PCAs, nurses at Health Science Center and the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. You all took great care of Joe, was consistently kind and made a very emotional and difficult time, bearable
