Obituary of Patrick (Paddy) Joseph Whiffen

Patrick Joseph Whiffen – known loving to many as Pat or Paddy was a man defined by humour, humility, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved.  Longtime resident of Rushoon, NL Pat passed Tuesday August 26, 2025 at the age of 67 years. Whether you knew him as a brother, uncle or friend, he was someone who showed up everytime you needed someone or something.

Pat will be lovely remembered by his siblings Robert Whiffen Rushoon, Blanche (Wayne) Pitcher Clarenville, George (Emily) Whiffen Rushoon, Mary (Roger) Barrett Fort McMurray, Rita (Randy) Barrett Swift Current, Doreen (George) Miller Rushoon, Clarence Whiffen Rushoon; by his 12 nieces & nephews. His beloved cat Boots, his best bud and as well as numerous other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Rita Whiffen, sister-in-law Alice Whiffen, and nephew Sean Whiffen. 

Paddy was loved by all. He loved his family time with his brothers and sisters. They would always get together to celebrate any occasion. Any excuse to get together. He enjoyed his time out by the door and his shed time with buddies. His best friend boots (his cat) was his shadow who went wherever he did. They like to fight around 4 am when Boots would wake him up to go outdoors. Friday of every week was a day to socialize with his brothers. The sudden passing of our brother, brother in law and uncle has saddened our hearts. He will be terribly missed and forever loved by all.

Family will be receiving friends at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin on Sunday August 31 2025 & Monday September 1, 2025 from 2-7PM.

Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart RC Church Marystown on Tuesday September 2, 2025 at 1:30PM with interment following at Christ the King RC Cemetery Rushoon NL.
