Obituary of Rex Crowley
Rex Crowley, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 16, 2025, leaving behind a life filled with passion, adventure, and love. Rex lived each day to the fullest.
Rex left behind the love of his life 51 years Emily; children Jeffrey (Taya) of Regina, Stephanie (Newman) of St. John’s, Angela (Tim) of Fredericton, NB, Shawn of St. Jacques; his beloved grandchildren Braelyn, Gianna, Mason, Keelyn, Alexa, Kaelie; siblings Dave (Connie), Audrey (Bill), Lisa (Hilary) Doreen, Barry and also a large circle of other family and friends.
Rex is predeceased by his parents Wilson and Josephine Crowley; and In-laws William and Joyce Cooper.
Born in Grand Bank, NL, Rex was the oldest of his siblings. A boisterous young man, he kept his mother’s hands full and could certainly stir the pot with his schoolteachers. But beneath that lively exterior was a fiercely brave heart. As he grew, Rex became a natural protector of those he loved. Nothing - and no one - seemed to intimidate him. He never backed down when it came to defending his family and was always the first to show up at Crowley Brothers to toss out the young 'hooligans' who caused trouble for his father.
Rex was known for his strength, drive, and work ethic. Family and friends often joked, calling him a slavedriver - but one thing was certain: Rex was never lazy. As a mechanical engineer at the fish plant in Grand Bank, he worked long hours with unwavering dedication. He was a true work horse but always made time for the things he loved. Rex rarely kept still - unless it was to eat, have a beverage, enjoy a game of crib, or listen to Emily sing and play guitar.
Having volunteered with the Canadian Rangers for years, Rex will be remembered for his love of nature. His passion for the outdoors, snowmobiling and four-wheeling, was second to none. Rex loved to hunt, fish and spend time at his cabins (of which there were many). Notably, some of his most cherished memories were made with friends and family in Millertown - which he often called ‘God’s Country.’
The one thing Rex adored, more than life itself, was his grandchildren. During his hardest days, he often said it was for them that he kept going. Forever babies in his eyes, they will miss his smile, his laugh, his smirk, and even his tears - for they were the ones who could touch the deepest corners of his heart.
The family will receive friends at Serenity Funeral Home Grand Bank on Monday August 18 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM and Tuesday August 19 from 2-4 PM & 7-9PM.
