It is with profound sadness and a heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Susie Grandy at the age of 94 on Sunday July 13, 2025 at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre with her daughters by her side. A loving, thoughtful, funny, kind, and always upbeat lady,  she was a mom, nan, sister, aunt and friend. Susie strong spirit was a shining star that will burn forever bright in the hearts of those who loved her.

Susie was predeceased by her parents Mary & Bert Paddle, husband Harold Grandy, brother’s Kyle Paddle & Harold Paddle.

Forever cherished and lovingly remembered, Susie is survived by her 2 daughters Rhoda & Charlaine (Wallace), grandchildren Craig (Leah), Juine Grootenboer (Steven), Cavelle Sutherland (Kyle), Mark Keeping (Kelly), great grandchildren Carter, Cooper, Abbey, Dylan, Emma, Kataleya whom were her pride and joy.  sister’s Ada Keeping & Jean Butler, special friends Kay Matthews’s & Viola Senior, many nieces, nephews and by many treasured friends.

Susie was born on Flat Islands, Port Elizabeth on August 10, 1930 to proud parents Bert & Mary Paddle. She met Harold in Frenchman’s Cove her true love, In 1951, they said "I do," on Flat Islands Port Elizabeth and their celebration in Garnish. Harold passed in 1990 they had 39 years together and she shaped young minds from her teaching career for 30 years. She catered events with a gracious flair, volunteered for 25 years with Burin Peninsula Health Care Auxiliary. Her passions were baking, cooking, gardening and traveling with delight, her heart was adventurous, warm, her spirit bright. A passionate traveler, she embraced every opportunity to explore the world with family and friends, creating cherished memories along the way. But no matter where she went, her heart was always with her family. Susie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and steadfast love for those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed. She lived with Wallace and Charlaine for three years in Garnish. When she was 80 years old she moved to Marystown Retirement Home and she set her driving aside, She was a proud member of ACW for 50 years. A mom, A proud grandma and great-grandma with pride. Her journey's tale, a life well-spent, In every role, she left her imprint.

Visitation for Susie will begin on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at St. Giles Anglican Church Garnish.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 19, 2025 2PM from St. Giles Anglican Church Garnish with interment following at St. Giles Anglican cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Giles Anglican cemetery Garnish.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.
