Obituary of Yvonne Mary Samms

Please share a memory of Yvonne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With profound sadness but faith in God’s eternal promise, the family of Yvonne Samms announces her peaceful passing on June 9, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on October 2, 1956, in Terrenceville, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yvonne lived a life of quiet grace, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her faith, her family, and her community.

Yvonne was a woman whose heart beat strongest for others. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of God, she touched countless lives through her kindness, wisdom, and deep compassion. She believed in the power of prayer, the comfort of scripture, and the strength that comes from trusting in God’s plan—no matter the storm.

She is lovingly remembered and forever missed by her daughters Tanya (Jimmy) of Terrenceville, and Tryphena (Jake) of Lloydminister, AB, her son Greg (Charlotte) of Brooks, AB, and her treasured grandchildren: Tyler, Kaitlyn, Chloe, Gracie, Brooklynne, and Wayne, each of whom brought incredible joy and purpose to her life. Yvonne’s presence in their lives was a guiding light, one filled with laughter, prayer, and the kind of love that only a grandmother can give.her brother Fabian Coombs (Michelle) of St. Bernard’s and sister Mercedes Coombs of Terrenceville  Also left to mourn is her dear son-in-law Keith, whom she welcomed as family with open arms and an open heart. Along with a large circle of relatives and friends. A special thank you to her home care workers Vivian and Elaine.

Yvonne is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband James Samms, her precious daughter Renee Hickey, her parents Marie and Ralph Coombs, her brother Ralph Coombs Jr., her sister Ann Bolt (David) and grand mother Bridget Mitchell. We take comfort in the promise that they are together once more, embraced in God’s eternal peace.

Her life was a testament to quiet strength and deep faith. Whether through a gentle smile, a hot cup of tea at her table, or whispered prayers said on behalf of those she loved, Yvonne reminded us that God’s love shines brightest in everyday moments. She was a pillar of faith and a source of comfort to all who knew her.

As the Lord welcomes her into His Kingdom, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life devoted to love, family, and faith. While we will miss her presence deeply, we know her spirit lives on in the hearts of all she touched.
