John was a compassionate man who was most proud of his family who always came first and foremost before anything else, especially his wife and very best friend, Gloria. His close second passion in life was his love for hunting, fishing and anything that involved the great outdoors. As Luke Bryan would say "Hunting, Fishing and loving everyday". You would find John fishing some trout come May each year, riding his Harley through the summer months, always loved a good boat ride, Moose Hunting in the Fall and a boil up with friends and family, always with his wife by his side. After many years of asking "guys, when am I getting grandkids anyway?", he finally got his grandchildren, Jace and Kate whom he adored more than anything. Jace was a true Poppy's boy and Kate, as Poppy would say, "you couldn't of drawn her up and built her anymore perfect yourself, she's just so beautiful".
We would like to send a very special thank you to all those who have poured their hearts and support into helping care for John, especially the Burin chemotherapy unit, including the many amazing doctors and nurses. A special thanks especially, Dr. William Moulton, Dr. McCarthy, Oncologist Dr.Siddique, all of the special nurses at the Chemo ward in Burin, John always said the Nurses are angels doing God's work.
