It is with great sadness the family of Michael Geraghty of Garnish, NL age 80 years announce his passing at Blue Crest Interfaith Home, Grand Bank on Wednesday March 5, 2025

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Steven (Patsy)( of Garnish, Allan (Victoria) of Garnish, Donnie (Emma) of Truro, NS; daughter Tanya (Blair) of London, ON; 6 grandchildren Bria, Jack, Emily, Andrew, Dianna and Luke; sister Debbie; dear friends Bonnie and Wayne plus a large circle of other family and friends.

Predeceased by wife Dianne, father Joseph Geraghty, mother Maude Bayford-Geraghty, sisters Maureen, Heather.

He will be remembered as a kind, generous, hard-working man who never complained. showcasing a remarkable work ethic He was a man of strong but quiet faith a steadfast supporter of St. Giles Anglican Church. Michael served in The Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years after he retired he went to work in the Department of National Defence. Mike was a firm believer of civic duty he served on the Garnish Town Council as the mayor and council member. He also was instrumental in getting the Burin Peninsula Waste Management.

A loving husband, father, grandfather a devoted brother, friend and steadfast caregiver, He took care of his beloved family. Known for his unwavering love and selfless support, Michael was a pillar of strength for his family, always putting other’s needs first.  He loved to cook and was exceptional at doing so, and took great pride hosting family gatherings He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a heart filled with endless love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him."

Visitation will take place on Friday March 7, 2025 from 7-9PM and Saturday March 8, 2025 from 10AM-12PM & 2-4PM at St. Giles Anglican Church, Garnish.

In keeping with Michael's wishes cremation will follow.

Funeral service will be held at a later date.

We want to say thank you to everyone at Blue Crest Nursing Home. Your care for our dad until he passed, every interaction with Michael was filled with tenderness and love. He was always greeted with a smile and so much kindness! It truly takes a special kind of person to handle the sadness and pain of not only the patient but their family as well. Whether you cleaned, did laundry, gave medical attention, gave spiritual support, offered hugs, or the myriad of things that are done on a daily basis… it’s obvious that everyone here comes together as a family to ensure that one of the most difficult times of life is met with empathy and compassion. We will forever be grateful to all of you.
