Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great heartache that we announce the passing of John Dodge who passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Thursday , February 13, 2025 the age of 82 years.

He leaves behind his son Allan (Sherri) Winterland, grandson Alex (Madison)Winterland, special friend Frances Farewell Marystown, sister Leah Sperry St. Lawrence formerly of Frenchman’s Cove, sisters-in-law Maureen Dodge St. John’s, Joan Langer Winterland, Nellie Pike (Herb) Lewin’s Cove, June Kenway Grand Bank, brothers-in-law Charl Royle Frenchman’s Cove, Chris Kenway (Karen) Winterland, Melvin Kenway (Marie) and numerous nieces, nephews and family and friends.

Predeceased by his wife Sandra, parents Frank and Cluda Dodge, parents-in-law Leslie and Ester Kenway, brother Dave, sister Ruth Royle, brothers-in-law Ed Langer, Jim Brinston, Lorne Kenway, Dave Sperry, sister-in-law Flora Brinston.

Everyone knew that John’s  greatest pride and joy was his grandson Alex. Nothing made John’s eyes light up more than being asked about his grandson. He referred to himself as a ‘homebody’, and all that were close to him knew he was happy with a relatively simple life. What can you say about a man that is a true homebody? If you asked him where he wanted to go if he could go anywhere in the world, he would say "HOME". What can you say about a man who truly enjoyed the most simple pleasures in life? A man who would love to just go home and watch TV. John  was a more reserved kind of man, but you should never mistake that for meek or shy. He actually was blessed with a strong-willed personality and was a man who liked to be in charge and never failed to say what he felt he needed to say. He was forthright and honest in a world that doesn't always appreciate those qualities, but they are special to those who do. He was also a devoted father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

In memory of John donations made to Grace United cemetery fund or the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation.
