Lila began teaching at the young age of 16 years in Little Bay East, NL. Lila was an educator for 35 years. She met and married the love of her life William when he had a stroke at the age of 62 years, Lila took care of him till he passed away at the age of 70.. She was dedicated and faithful to her church, she was a true Christian in every sense of the word. She was above all else, a friend. If someone needed help, she was there. She was the person who would greet a stranger at a gathering and make them feel welcome. She loved the church. To her the church was the most beautiful thing in the world. She served as a organist, choir member for over 70 years.

Lila instilled in her sons and grandchildren a deep appreciation of music, humor and kindness.

She leaves behind a legacy of music, education, humor, and love and she was cherished by her family, former students, and her church family.  Another of her passions was music she loved all kinds of music. Lila was a fun loving person, she was very witty, she like everyone else was not perfect. She was very stubborn. You could not win an argument with Lila. She was very determined and loved you like no other. Lila had a full and beautiful life, we wanted it to be longer but we are grateful for the time we had with her.
