George was a man of remarkable warmth whose life was defined by a generous spirit and a deep, abiding pride in his family. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, infectious laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those lucky enough to be in his inner circle—including his beloved cat, who held a special place in his heart. His passion for the outdoors started early and was truly legendary. As a boy, George’s heart was always in the fields rather than the classroom. In a classic family conspiracy, his sisters would dutifully carry his books to school for him while George slipped away into the brush to hunt birds. That childhood spark grew into a lifelong calling; he and Elaine spent years trekking through the wilderness together, sharing the quiet camaraderie and the rugged beauty of their many hunting trips.

When he wasn't in the woods, George was usually found at the card table, where he was a force to be reckoned with. It was nearly impossible to bluff him; he had an uncanny, almost supernatural ability to know exactly what was in your hand before you even looked at it yourself. But even as he was outplaying you, he was making you laugh. George possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a rare perspective on life—he could find something to smile about in any situation, ensuring that everyone around him felt his joy.

Whether he was outsmarting a deck of cards, exploring the woods with Elaine, or relaxing with his cat, George lived with a fullness of spirit that we will never forget.
