Our condolences go out to Charlene and family. Walt was Best Man at our wedding in 1977. Up to that point we were together with Walt our entire lives. Went to school together, went to Trade School at the same time and so on. Even when we moved to Lab City, Walt was here too. What a great friend he was with so many great memories. Unfortunately, Walt didn’t stick with Labrador for long and he headed back to Fortune. Our loss was definitely Fortune’s gain. We kind of lost touch over the years and that’s too bad but we will always cherish our memories with him.

Charlene and family. We were saddened to hear of Walt's passing. Our families were close when we lived in Fortune. We were always treated like family from the time my parents settled across the road from Frank and Jessie. I have many good memories of Christmas dinners past. We all share your loss. My condolences to the family of Walt. Gone far too soon. I always looked up to his family and one particular memory of Walt’s father and Keith was when I was a young boy and my mom would send us over to the farm to get blood from a cow they were slaughtering to make blood pudding. Mom would give us a bucket and off we go. She always say before we left… now don’t forget the fat. Mr. Patten made sure we were looked after. My best memories of Walt (Farmer) as he was called was during the time I knew him best… the good old soccer days of the late 70’s. I have many fond memories of Walt during this time when his heroics as our goalie shone through. He held us in many games we didn’t deserve to win but did because of him. A true athlete and wonderful all round human being. After the match he would always rub my head and say “good game Bucky”. In watching this beautiful video tribute I really saw much more than a soccer player… he was an outdoorsman and a loving family man. RIP my friend until we meet again
