Dear Melvie,
We were so sad to hear about the loss of your precious Tyler.
I have great memories of you and the boys from when Zach and I were matched through Big Brothers & Big Sisters. You were always so welcoming and kind, and I always deeply admired your ability to maintain a loving home with 3 energetic boys! (Being a former energetic boy myself, I can fully respect that kind of challenge!)
Somewhere in my photo collection I have a photo of Zach, Tyler, Tanner and I enjoying a “Pu-Pu” platter at the restaurant “Alfredo, Weinstein, & Ho” in downtown Halifax. (What little boy doesn’t want to say “We had a poo-poo platter at lunch!”) My daughter, Megan, joined us as well, and was in a highchair. I will have to find it and scan it to you. What a great time.
I remember that day because Tyler and Tanner hadn’t yet been matched with a Big Brother, and they were keen for some fun too. With Zach’s permission, we asked if the boys wanted to join us. (What a great big brother Zach is!) We had lots of fun, and I’m sure a little break for you was long overdue.
I think back to those times very fondly. I didn’t know much about kids, so Zach taught me a lot. You were always so awesome to chat with as well Melvie. I’ve meant to reach out many times to connect with you, and I regret that I delayed reaching out to you until now. I’ve certainly thought of you all often over the years.
Denise, Megan, Sammy and I send our sincerest best wishes to you, Zach, Tanner, and the entire family.
Big hugs Melvie,
Pete, Denise, Megan & Sammy
