Born on January 11th , 1946, John Douglas Pike (Dougie as he was called) was one of 5 children born to Robert and Elizabeth Pike of Lewin's Cove. The childhood home where he grew up was where he remained as an adult. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life like watching a game of soccer or hockey. In his younger days he could be found alongside his dad in the woods cutting firewood, or walking to the shop for his can of root beer and a yarn with the store owners. He loved fishing especially on May 24th, when he would spend the day trying to catch the big one. His family was very important to him he especially enjoyed his little visits to him sister's houses. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, and in later years his great nieces and nephews came along, he had even more family to love and to love him back. Dougie made a lasting impression on anyone who ever met him. He loved to tell stories and would talk the ear of who ever would listen to him. He was a kind hearted man who will be missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation to take place Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 1-9pm.
